P. J. Ruster is widely recognized as a true and unique artist in
the world of fashion design. With roots extending into her family's
fashion business, "PJ" developed her skills as a designer, fashion consultant
and interior decorator at a young age. Her first success came as a designer
and manufacturer of "Art to Wear" pieces. Each garment was unique and
one of a kind for both women's apparel and lingerie. PJ
worked with antique materials: restoration, hand beading, hand dyeing,
and feathering. PJ's collection of antique and lace clothing has been
carried in all the best specialty stores throughout the country. Her
signature piece was the kimono made from combining various antique fabrics
including scarves and tapestries and then embellishing them with beads,
trimmings and ribbons. Ruanas, bags, shawls, lingerie . . . you name
it, PJ's stamp of artistry cannot be missed.
PJ has also extended her artistic talents to include interior design
and décor. She has used paints, ribbons, jewels, and unusual
objects to transform boxes, mirrors, trunks, and more, into exotic unique
center pieces. Give PJ a bit of your time and let her transform your
living space with her exciting fashions.

PJ designed four major collections yearly for Diane Von Furstenberg.
She chose the fabrics and colors, and designed the collection for a
35 million dollar apparel empire. She managed the design room, patterns,
sewers, and cutters, besides dealing with sales representatives who
dealt with international retailers. She
worked as a creative associate for David Barrett Interiors as an international
buyer for fine antiques and fine fabrics; she worked with exclusive
clientele in choosing interior colors, fine antiques, décor and
faux finishes.
PJ's
designs are loose and comfortable. She states, "You feel as if you have
nothing on. My designs are loose and easy and have a sensual flow. I
like things that are pretty and old and that make people feel good."
Driven by her creative energy, "I find inspiration in everyone I meet,
everywhere I go, and everything I experience."
